Over the last few months, there has been a considerable increase in the demand for appointments. The surgery will be using reception triage which is a system used to assess urgency of cases and to place patients the appropriate care pathways ensuring the patient is directed to the most appropriate resource.
When you telephone to book an appointment to see the GP, the receptionist will ask you a few simple and non intrusive questions.
To help make you the correct appointment, I need to know a brief outline of the problem
This is because reception has a number of alterative types of appointments available to offer you. These will include:
A routine appointment bookable up to 8 weeks in advance
Same day appointments released on the day
Urgent appointments available on the day
An appointment with the Nurse or Healthcare Assistant
A telephone consultation with the GP
A telephone consultation with the Nurse
Leaving a message for the relevant person to deal with your problem or query
Signposting you to another appropriate service such as Pharmacy First.
GP Appointment times
The practice offers appointment times throughout the day Monday to Friday, ranging over the course of the week from 9.00am to 5.50pm.
We have allocated times each morning for ‘urgent’ appointments and telephone consultations – please telephone as early as possible in the day if you consider that you need to be seen or wish to speak to a doctor that day. Wherever possible a telephone consultation will be with the doctor or your choice but an 'urgent' appointment (ie one that cannot wait) will be with the next available doctor.
Practice Nurse Appointments:
15 minute appointments are available, as detailed below:
- Mon - Fri : 08:00 - 12:00
- Mon - Fri : 14:30 - 17:00 / 18.00 (Mon-Wed)
You can speak to the Practice Nurse on the telephone. Please leave your name and contact number and Cathy or Clare will phone you at the end of her morning surgery.
Healthcare Assistant Appointments
Appointments for BP & Well Person Checks are available: Mon - Thurs 8.00-11.30am & Wed afternoon 3-6pm.
All appointments are generally bookable up to 3 months in advance.
